Vegetable and strawberry beds are usually prepared before transplanting, so this is a good time to add humic acid granules into the soil. The product can be spread on the bed and mixed into the upper soil layer, or placed in a furrow before covering. If the bed is dry, watering after application helps the granules contact moisture faster.
The aim is not to put a strong line of fertilizer against fresh roots. Young plants need a steady soil layer around them. For this reason, the granule should be placed with enough distance from the root system. In many programs, 75-150 kg/ha before transplanting is used as a light reference, while a heavier base application can be planned when soil condition calls for it. The bed should be checked after mixing, because uneven placement can leave some rows with too much material and other rows with almost none.
