Humic acid and its products have a variety of uses. In agriculture, humic acid fertilizers made by combining nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other elements (for example: ammonium humic acid fertilizer can be made by neutralizing humic acid with ammonia) has the functions of fertilizer efficiency, soil improvement, crop growth, and improvement of agricultural product quality; Nitrohumic acid can be used as an acid regulator for rice seedling raising; Magnesium humate, zinc humate and iron humate urea had good effects on supplementing soil magnesium deficiency, corn zinc deficiency and fruit tree iron deficiency, respectively. The mixed use of humic acid and herbicidal ether, atrazine and other pesticides can improve the efficacy and inhibit residual toxicity; Sodium humate is effective in the treatment of apple tree rot disease. In animal husbandry, sodium humate is used for deer antler velvet to stop bleeding, and nitrohumic acid urea complex is also used as cattle feed additives. In industry, sodium humate is used for ceramic mud adjustment; anti-scaling of low-pressure boilers and locomotive boilers; Humic acid ion exchanger is used to treat wastewater containing heavy metals; Sodium sulfonated humate is used as a cement superplasticizer; Humic acid products are also used as oil drilling mud treatment agents (see Oilfield Chemicals); Purified humic acid is used as a cathode expansion agent for lead-acid batteries. China has a variety of the above products, which are widely used.
It has been 214 years since humic acid was first obtained from soil in 1786. If we take the "Wujin San" compiled in the "Compendium of Materia Medica" by Li Shizhen, a famous medical scientist in the Ming Dynasty, as an example, the application of humic acid has been more than 400 years, which fully explains the ancient history of humic acid.
The organized study of humic acid in China began at the end of the fifties, mainly from the utilization of peat. In the sixties, there was a great upsurge in the use of humic acid fertilizers and soil improvement throughout the country. It was only after the mid-70s that the state really took it seriously and promoted. At that time, Comrade Wang Zhen, Vice Premier of the State Council, personally grasped that the State Council had twice promoted the comprehensive development and utilization of humic acid in China in 1974 and 1979 with Guo Fa No. 110 and No. 200 documents. In the 80s, with the continuous development of the national humic acid industry, the State Economic and Trade Commission approved the establishment of the "China Humic Acid Industry Association" in 1987, which is responsible for the unified organization and coordination of the national humic acid work. Some provinces and municipalities with large reserves of humic acid resources have also been included in the government work sequence, and a humic acid office has been set up for this purpose.
